Basic Tools Every Avid Angler Should Carry

If you pride yourself as an avid angler or have a strong passion for the highly rewarding art of fishing, then it is only fitting that you equip yourself with the complete knowledge and proper tools. For any typical avid angler, it is always a must to wear a fishing vest, which has become a more convenient alternative to lugging around a bulky tackle box. If you are planning yet another excursion with the rest of your fishing buddies, you need to come prepared not just with a decent fishing rig, but also six other important tools at your disposal. Here's a list of things that you might want to put on your vest:

Hemostats - every avid angler should know that hemostats are perfect tools to help remove hooks from the mouth of the fish, especially if you are using small hooks. Although some anglers would prefer the use of needle nose pliers, you will soon discover that hemostats are much better and efficient tool when it comes to hook removal.

Pocket Lure Holders - these usually comes designed like smaller tackle boxes that can easily fit your vest pocket. Carry around one or two of such holders to store your favorite lures so don't have to worry about losing or misplacing your bait when you are ready to cast.

Extra Hooks and Lures - If you are a bait angler, then you need to have some extra gang hooks and one single hook ready all the time. You also need extra lures as well as lure colors since it's not a farfetched possibly that your lures might get snagged or may come loose.

Small Flashlight -Every avid angler should have a small flash light ready since you will never know when you will possibly use it. It certainly pays to be forewarned.

Matches - Why the need for this? Like the flashlight, you may soon find the need to start a fire. Any form of fire starter will do but always be sure to store it in a waterproof container.

Retractors - these are generally used to hold small things such as the hemostats and nail clippers that you have in your pocket. With a retractor, you can simply leave it hanging on your vest, which eliminates the need to constantly search your pockets for this and that. Once you are done using it, it zips right back into place, making it a highly convenient tool during serious fishing.

All the aforementioned tools may just be simple things that every avid angler usually forgets to include in their list of paraphernalia, but will prove to be very handy just when you least expect it to.
